Psalm 104

The poem is simply a paraphrasing of the beginning of Psalm 104, a chapter which speaks to the creative power of the Eternal God...

"Psalm 104"

You with Light do wrap Yourself,

clothed with Majesty and Might;
You're of Purer Eyes to look at sin,
You let it not before Your sight.
The wings of wind You walk upon
the beams to build the earth You lay;
the raging seas you give a mark
and with a line it’s waves you stay.
High o’er the mountains water sat;
the earth You swathed with deep;
At Your rebuke they fled away,
Your Word the thrashing waves do keep.
With green You made the earth to grow
and with all its fullness bloom;
You washed it with the gentle rain
poured from out Your storehouse room.
So my soul, Behold your God!
Who hath created all these things.
Strong in power, great in Might
Of Whom all His Nature sings.
He, Your God, the stars to see
must stoop from off His throne
and yet for this became a Man
and was for us made flesh and bone.
To stretch Himself upon the cross
to bear up all our guilt,
Tis your Saviour, O my soul
let on Him your hope be built!
